Methodology

How INDEX works

The index of Solana's Pump.fun memecoins. Rules are applied automatically; there are no admins.
01

Who is rewarded

$INDEX holders receive no direct rewards. Rewards go only to holders of coins launched through INDEX. Launching costs 0.05 SOL, including a 0.001 SOL minimum dev buy. No wallet connection is used: the fee is matched on-chain by a unique payment reference.

02

Index choice

Each launched coin picks its own index from the top 100 Pump.fun Solana coins by market cap, or selects all. Candidates come from the Jupiter Tokens API and GeckoTerminal PumpSwap pools, but listing alone is not trusted: each mint is checked on-chain through Helius, and only tokens whose metadata update authority is Pump.fun's creation authority are kept. No free source lists every Pump.fun coin, so the ranking covers verified coins found in those lists.

03

Fees and budget

Each coin's collected creator fees are split: 20% goes to the hourly $INDEX buyback-and-burn, 80% is that coin's index budget. The budget buys the index in equal weights, capped by the per-coin and daily spending limits. Anything not spent stays in that coin's balance.

Swaps are quoted through Jupiter with bounded slippage and price impact; a swap over the limit is skipped and its budget kept.

04

Holders

Each coin gets one rewards round per UTC day. Background workers run every 10 minutes only to resume unfinished steps. The coin's top 100 eligible holders by balance receive the purchased tokens equally; with fewer than 100, it is split equally among those who qualify. Liquidity pools, program-owned accounts, burn addresses and system wallets are excluded. Ties sort by address.

If a coin has no eligible holders, nothing is bought that round and its funding carries forward. Other coins are not affected.

05

Hourly $INDEX buyback & burn

Every hour, the 20% allocations from all coins are pooled. If the pool is above the economic minimum after estimated network costs, it buys $INDEX via Jupiter and burns it with an SPL Token burn instruction that reduces supply. Smaller amounts carry to the next hour. A buyback or burn is only shown as done after on-chain confirmation, with Solscan links. Network and execution costs are shown separately. Buybacks require the verified $INDEX mint.

06

Accounting

Every coin has its own ledger, balances, liabilities and distributions. One coin's funds are never spent on another. Amounts are integer raw units; shares are rounded down and leftovers stay with the coin.

Jobs run per coin in steps (collect fees → split → snapshot holders → plan swaps → execute → distribute). Each step is saved, so an interrupted run resumes where it stopped. A transaction with unknown outcome blocks that coin until it is reconciled; it is never blindly retried.

07

Risks

No guaranteed returns. Memecoins are volatile and can go to zero. This is not a redeemable or asset-backed product.
